![]() ![]() Spent about a week comparing it to the V-Type and I had as well as the G12-65's. I ordered one A-Type from my local Long & McQuade the next day. I asked after the show what he was using, and to my surprise he said he had a Celestion A-Type on the top (cabinet was on it's end due to no space on the stage) and a Celestion Alnico Gold on the bottom. I took particular note (from where I was seated) to the 2 x 12 Kingsley cabinet he was using and how great it sounded. Simon was using his newly developed D-Style preamp pedals though the loop of his Kingsley Earl (power only) and the tones were spectacular. ![]() Near the end of last year I went to see Simon Jarrett and his band Rocket Science play at a local venue. On the flip side, I really liked them as a speaker of choice in the Michael Landau 2 x 12 Hot Rod Deville I owned for a year before acquiring the Kemper. Found them a little thin in the top end, and slightly lacking in the low end. Thought to my ears anyway, the V-Type sounded like a refined V-30 (in a good way) but still didn't have the overall tones I was looking for. ![]() Tried, and quite liked, the V-Type speakers for everything BUT the D-Style sounds in the Kemper. Found that the G12-65's weren't quite as versatile as I wanted after acquiring the Kemper (so many tones available) so I went on a bit of a mini speaker search. I had G12-65's in that cabinet for years, and loved what they did with the many D Style amps I have owned. I currently have two A-Type speakers in my oval, open back Glaswerks 2 x 12. ![]()
